Need a go-to APP for writing? Found it.
Everything you need to craft your first draft.
Back in history, when I started my writing fiesta, I would either write things down on a yellow legal pad or use Text Edit: Yup, the dark ages before hip Apps and independent software.
Then, one windy day back in 2011. I came across an odd name on the internet, Scrivener 1, while searching for writing tools. I clicked the link, and bam, there I was, checking out their product. I was impressed. I downloaded the free trial and got my greasy hands all over the application. It was intuitive with a streamlined interface. I wanted to transfer my writing data to this system immediately, start editing old stories, and create new ones. It is a simple download/install, and c'mon folks, it's under fifty greenbacks to own. Today, the beloved Scrivener is on version 3, offering new features and updates.
Scrivener allows you to create templates and icons for new sections in your project. You can format your screenplay and export that document straight into Final Draft. Corkboard enables you to plan your project with pictures and index cards, easy to keep track of your characters and locations. Outliner allows you to write with an overview of a chapter or even your whole manuscript. You can easily view documents side by side, allowing you to check consistency between something you wrote in a previous chapter. The feature I like is the full-screen writing addition; get everything out of your visual way and focus on words. This feature comes with different color and image backdrops. They also have some helpful add ons for non-fiction writers.
Writing is about being free but also about being organized. I recommend this sweet software to veteran authors and those just getting their feet wet. You may have an old version of Scrivener, fist pump; you are in the club. If you want to upgrade, it is simple; check out their website today.
